City Scapes Logbook
We: Group
I: Myself
Oct. 7
We were assigned the City Scapes project but unfortunately didnt have enough time to plan everything out.
Oct. 9
We started to plan out everything and discuss what the city should look like and the main design of the city. Me, Linda and YaoYao drew pictures on the blackboard on our individual ideas and then compared them.
Oct. 14
We continued to plan out our city and draw rough sketches of the final design of the city. We started to draw the floor plans.
Oct. 16
We continued to draw our plans and nearly finished on them. Were still trying to figure out the scale for our city.
Oct. 20
Finally, were done our floor plans! AndLinda and YayYao also figured out our scale. Instead of making our floors from wood or Styrofoam, were making them out of plastic so the citizens of our city can look down through the glass floor, like the one in the CN tower in Toronto^^
Oct. 22
Weve started and finished cutting the plastic for our floors. Weve also planned to punch small holes through the floors where the dowels will fit as elevators. Were finally done the floors. Now, we have to plan out the buildings and landscape.
Oct. 24
Ive started to cut large blocks of wood into smaller pieces to make the buildings out of. Weve started making our incredibly unique shaped houses and buildings. We spent the whole period cutting and sanding more buildings.
Oct. 28
Oh no! The plastic cracked because the hole was punched in too quickly, now, I have to re-cut two pieces of plastic. Were continuing to make buildings, even more unique then before^^ We spent this period making houses and buildings too.
Oct. 30
Weve started painting our buildings and houses. The colors of the buildings are even wackier than the buildings themselves We almost finished painting the houses using our different painting techniques. I painted the houses marbled using blue, turquoise, and pink funky combination of colors in my opinion.
Nov. 3
We modified the holes in our plastic holes and we continued to paint the buildings and make new ones. Weve also started making the landscape with Styrofoam and mushy paste. Styrofoam is extremely hard to cut using a saw! Took the 4 of us to cut one piece! Lathering the white paste over the Styrofoam is messy but quite enjoyable^^
Nov. 5
Weve finished painting the buildingsfinally! The mushy paste has dried on top but is still a bit wet underneath but we painted it green anyways.
Nov. 7
Were finally done all the buildings and were continuing with painting the landscapes.
Nov. 12
I made a few extra buildings: a private school and an aquarium and etc. We also decided to have bridges on each side of each floor except for the smallest floor at the top. We started and finished making and sanding extra bridges. We also painted the bridges with 2 shades of blue really nice for shadowing. Anywaysthe end product is quite pleasing to the eye.
Nov. 14
Weve finished all the components of the city, we just need to put it together!
Nov. 18
Our last day to work on the project.hopefully, well finish but a small extension would do us a lot of good We also need to find a way to insert the dowels into the holes. Ahhhh! So much to do in 1 hour 20 minutesI wonder if well finishOf course we will! ^^
